Howdy! My name is Gary Maddux,
I am currently completing my Master’s in Mental Health Counseling at Colorado Christian University under the direct supervision of Dr. Rebecca Welsh, Ph.D., LPC-S, RPT-S, NCC.
I am a retired Marine Corps Veteran who received a call to the field of counseling. I have a God given desire to help people heal through the power of the Holy Spirit in a therapeutic relationship. I believe this relationship starts in the foundational principle that each person is uniquely designed and created in the image of God. True healing occurs within our relationships with God, ourselves, and others.
I approach the therapeutic relationship from a primarily person centered, and cognitive behavioral focus informed by trauma and attachment. I also see the importance of how each person’s individual life experience or narrative has influenced who they are today. From this perspective we gain insight into where we came from and can focus on where we want to go. I look forward to hearing your story and working together with the Holy Spirit to find a path to growth and healing.
When I’m not working, I enjoy running, wake-surfing, and spending time with my wife Nancy, our three dogs, our 3 adult kids and all of our extended family.
