Welcome! My name is Marisa Burton, and I am currently working toward completing my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Colorado Christian University. I am a Colorado native and recently moved to Texas after transitioning from a twenty-seven-year career in education as a classroom teacher and instructional coach with experience in K-8 literacy intervention, educational and second language testing, parent and teacher support, and adult education. I am blessed to be a part of 316 Counseling, where I can continue my work with school-aged children, teens, their parents, and adults. My focus is anxiety, depression, mood disorders, ADHD, learning disabilities, and women’s issues.
It takes courage to come to counseling, and I am so glad you are here! Genuine connection is the heart of the counseling relationship, and you will find me authentic as a person and counselor. While I am energetic and believe laughter is a part of the healing process, I also have a deep compassion for others and will journey alongside you as you share your story, offering encouragement, unconditional acceptance, and hope during this life-changing experience.
When I am not working or studying, I enjoy time with my husband, my teenage daughter, and three adult children. I love taking long walks with my dog Mae, reading, spending time with friends, being involved in my Catholic church community, and traveling.
