Hi! I am Aspen Hazel, a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas and National Certified Counselor. I also serve as an Affiliate Teaching Assistant at Colorado Christian University and the Site Team Lead at 316 Counseling Center.

I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, with a minor in Women and Ethnic Studies, from the University of Colorado Colorado Springs in December 2015. Later, in December 2019, I attained my Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Colorado Christian University. Since 2018, I have been actively engaged in hands-on client work, finding profound meaning and satisfaction in listening to clients' life narratives.

As a counselor, I firmly believe that individuals are most inclined to share intimate aspects of their lives when they perceive a sense of safety, empathy, and acceptance. My life's purpose and professional goals are aligned, emphasizing the extension of empathy to everyone I encounter, along with equipping them with trauma-informed tools to navigate life's challenges.

In my therapeutic practice, I integrate Solution-Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), the Needs-Connection Model, and Motivational Interviewing. My diverse experience spans working with clients across various demographics, and I take pride in my ability to connect with individuals of all ages and backgrounds. Notably, my expertise includes working extensively with teenagers aged 12-17, women across all age groups, and clients grappling with grief, anxiety, body image concerns, trauma, and more.

Beyond my clinical work, I am fervently committed to dispelling the stigma surrounding mental health within minority communities. My advocacy efforts have been particularly focused on the Black and local church communities, where I strive to create spaces for clients to be advocated for and encouraged to prioritize their mental health.

During my leisure hours, I find joy in embarking on travel adventures with my family and friends including delving into the dining scene that Dallas offers. My husband and I have been married for seven years. Our relocation from Colorado Springs to Dallas, TX in January 2021 marked a significant chapter in our lives. We are now blessed to embrace the role of parents to a lovely baby girl, adding a new and cherished dimension to our lives.
