316 Counseling Center: Who We Are and What We Do

Whether you're a long-time client or just starting your search for a therapist, 316 Counseling Center is here to help. Started initially as 316 Parenting in 2010 by Dr. Becki (Barns) Welsh, our vision has always been to help create strong connections between individuals, children, and families. What began with a single, private-practice counselor has now expanded into 316 Counseling Center, a multi-site non-profit therapy practice with six therapists and growing.

Play therapy provides children with a natural and meaningful way to express themselves.

Specialties

Our highly-skilled therapists have an array of specialties and training to meet your unique mental health needs at our Allen or McKinney locations. These specialties include: play therapy interventions, trauma-informed therapy, EMDR (eye-movement desensitization and reprocessing), executive functioning/ADHD, group counseling, filial (family) therapy, and many more.

All counselors at 316 Counseling Center have been trained by Clinical Director Dr. Becki Welsh in her proprietary Needs-Connection Model. This unique attachment and developmental model stems from Dr. Welsh's 30 plus years of experience working with children and families. This model aims to reduce stress in individuals and families, allowing for greater connection and growth.

How We Operate

One of the main reasons our therapy practice was established was to make counseling and mental health services more affordable and accessible. Our center operates on a sliding scale based on the experience level of the therapist and the gross annual household income of the client. This fee scale allows us to offer counseling services to fit your budgetary needs.
